They play poker for chunks of chocolate and handfuls of copper coins. She keeps her distance, but seeing friendship and makeshift families coming together in such a foreign place helps her settle.

It's her first time away from home as well, after all. She knows it's just empathy, but with each warm surge of feeling she gets from observing her men, her mother's words ring hollow in her ears. Peggy doesn't know how anyone could face the war without love. 5 times Peggy falls in love. Really lovely.

It just was and Remus knew that even if there was some sort of scale, he wouldn't care to check it. Sirius is afraid to tell James he and Remus are together. This is really lovely and the ending made me sniffly.

Mal's gun is out and tipped up under Steve's chin before he can finish the sentence. "Heard from who."

To the stranger's credit, he doesn't stammer under the press of steel. "Shepherd Book," he says calmly. Eeee! Steve and Bucky 500 years in the future! Bucky trapped by the same people who had River and Steve asks Mal's help to get him back! Mal being frustrated that everything is out of his control. I love this so much!

Steph writes letters (that she doesn't send) to Cass while Cass is in Hong Kong. So lovely and true to their friendship. It made me all sniffly.

Damian very pointedly doesn't say anything. But he doesn't disagree either and is looking everywhere else but at Steph.

Damian apparently has to respond to that. "-Tt- I was simply ensuring that you didn't give away any of my Father's secrets away when you awoke."

"Riiiiiiiight, that doesn't even make sense," Steph says. "You like me. Admit it."

Damian glares at her again.

They walk past a few more houses and Steph can't suppress her grin. Steph's mom asks her to do a background check on a possible suitor, and Steph ends up involving Damian. This is adorable, with a great Steph voice and a surprising amount of "Oh, Damian."

This does a really nice job fleshing out Maggie Sawyer. Not having read much Superman, it didn't occur to me to think about her relationship with him, and how it mirrors/parallels Batman's with Commissioner Gordon, but this story handles it really well and makes me want to know more (and also to be a fly on the wall when he discusses her with Batman, or discovers she's dating Batwoman).

Dani didn't get how Crews had turned into the exception. Crews, who ignored her lines in the sand and her pointed silences, but tossed her the keys every time, bought her coffee with his fruit and listened when it was important, listened when she didn't say anything at all. Maybe that was zen – to give without expecting anything, and get everything in return. She'd given her trust almost without realizing it – believed so hard that she could stare at a photo and trust him blind, taunt Nevikov to his face and never doubt that Crews would come for her. But there was no debt there, even after he climbed into a deathtrap to get her out.

Like many things about Crews, it didn't make sense. She wasn't sure it ever would. really excellent post-series story in which Reese comes to a realization about Crews. Really great Dani voice and I loved the inclusion of Seever, as well.

He's been on his knees for Steve before, twice back when they were in Brooklyn, too far gone on cheap beer and untainted by war. Steve had still been smaller than him, but with Bucky's knees going numb on the cheap carpet of his apartment, the height difference had been turned on its head then, too.

Bucky doesn't think he'd do those things with anyone other than Steve. Hot yet sweet PWP, the first time Steve and Bucky are together after Steve's become Captain America.

"You have to save us, Eli got cranky and made us get up at four thirty and we did pushups for hours and I need sleep or I'll unmake Manhattan."

"Your breasts are crooked," is all she can croak in reply to that, her cast going to pat Billy in the back. Kate gets sent to boarding school. The boys do not deal well. I hurt myself laughing at this because it is amazing and hilarious.

Bucky had to look away. Not out of - he figured they assumed it was disgust, old Mr. Barnes couldn't handle the newfangled ways of love, but he'd never been able to look at couples being coupled, not for very long.

It was like seeing a girl before she put on her face, or Steve asleep in a puddle of drool: It wasn't right. It was an invasion of privacy.

Not that Bucky had ever had much of a problem with invading anyone's privacy. AU where Steve gets Bucky to "mentor" the Young Avengers and in the fine tradition of younger siblings everywhere, the boys won't stop bothering him. This is both hilarious and touching. Billy and Teddy are adorable but the Bucky-Eli interaction is what makes it so awesome.

This is a day: over breakfast, they loudly debate what to do that day, even as her pen moves steadily through the unformed memories of it corporeal on paper, even as he complains that her cars look like boxes, her people like blobs--what the hell is that even supposed to be?--even as she tells him to fuck off, her art is pretty fucking amazing, all right, it is a rough sketch. They go out into the street and talk to people and maybe get shot at, then they go somewhere else for lunch, bickering over her possibly shitty-or-not-shitty taste in clothing, and then they get shot at some more. When it's over, they still aren't dead yet. Really love series of snippets about their life on the run.

Future Imperfect by to_say_nothing
Cassie always drew what she saw, even when she didn't like it. She'd drawn herself and Nick dying, dying, dying, tortured and imprisoned, drugged and separated. She drew herself now, crying up at the ceiling. The green marker pressed heavily into the page as she scribbled the crimped lines of her hair, but she held the silver lightly on the outline of her tears. Lovely bit of Nick/Cassie.

So she's on the run with a totally hot older guy with stubble and shoulders and blue eyes and she's possibly going to die very very soon (long story, not that entertaining) the point is, given that life is short and Nick is hot, doesn't it make sense that once, just once, they should hook up? "Nick," she breathes against him, mouth brushing against his to stop the frantic sounds he's making. "I'm ok," she says, eyes fluttering, limbs heavy and mouth slack. "I'm ok." Sharp, desperate first kiss for Nick and Cassie.

It sounds too much like what she heard in her vision and she knows she has to leave. So she pulls back and gives him a watery smile. His returning smile is broad and lights up his whole face and she wishes she were a better artist. She wants to remember this better than she can capture it.

"We're going to be okay this time," he promises and she nods. Yes they are. Cassie leaves to keep them both safe, and Nick doesn't take it well. Achy and lovely.

They're facing each other, close enough to kiss, and there's a bed right beneath them. Cassie doesn't need to be a Watcher to see where this is going. Destination: hot sex, straight ahead. She's already lightheaded just thinking about. Every single day it took to get to this moment is suddenly so very worth it. For once, Cassie doesn't see it coming. Sweet and funny and hot.

When she's not planning the full destruction of all Division agencies across the globe, rescuing her mother, and saving the world from the renegades, she's searching for the original Wiper who took Nick's memories, or at least hunting down a Wiper worth his or her salt that could bring back some glimpses so she could win his trust; Kira's Push runs deep in his scarred brain. Cassie would feel doomed if it wasn't for her latest vision of her and Nick hustling a dice game, a fond familiar smile on his face.

She visits him when she can, but it never ends well. The technicolor swell flies outward from his fists, and she has to drug him again, rubbing her bruised face and calling for a Stitch. Cassie rescues Nick from Division, and then tries to find a way to get his memories of her back. Sharp and good.

Arthur's jaw tightens like he's chewing on his first response, his brows furrowing in a way that Eliot can admit looks pretty badass.

"My hair?" Arthur finally growls, and Eliot smirks and does the Revlon hair toss, using the motion to conduct a quick visual survey of the hotel room his baby brother is guarding. hee! Eliot and Arthur as estranged brothers works surprisingly well in this adorable crossover.

A slip of a girl is standing there, pale-faced and with dark hair - longer than Cass. He blinks, and tenses his muscles in anticipation of the fight.

She can't be older than Tim. It's not, as he well knows, any kind of testament to her skill-levels; when Bruce was younger than Tim is now, he was already one of the most dangerous fighters on Earth. Without even going into the likes of Cass or Damian.

Or she could be meta. In which case, of course, all bets are off. Bruce feels his lips set into a thin line. All considered, that is still preferable to magic.

But she doesn't attack him, simply looks at him, solemn and unafraid. Something deep in Bruce's chest shifts. Batman finds himself in the future with only River Tam for company. Awesome. Excellent at showing how good Bruce can be with damaged kids. And River is, of course, amazing.

"Look," says Tony, sitting down cross-legged on the floor next to Bucky, "even I can tell that if you want to ride that bronco, you have to buy a ticket, wait, no, that's a terrible analogy, er, Pep, I need a hand, here-"

"He's in love with you," says Pepper, "and you are the only person who has ever met the two of you, I should imagine, who is in ignorance of that. Go home, Sergeant Barnes." This isn't really how I see Bucky, but this story pushes a lot of my buttons and it is both hot and sweet and has pining and unrequited love that is actually requited, so, yes. Also, Pepper remains the actualfax best.

After, he sidles unsteadily closer to settle over Steve's lap, close and warm with the dozy, familiar smell of alcohol on his breath. "I know you won't." Oh my heart. Bucky doesn't like heights. Steve promises to take care of him. And then what happens in the movie happens. Oh, Bucky. Oh, Steve... *sniffle*

Steve scrubs a hand back through his hair, leans into his desk. He's exhausted, because it's exhausting trying to investigate a case when he's sleeping with the man he's supposed to be hunting down. Bucky is there in an instant, so light on his feet that Steve doesn't know he's next to him until Bucky's touching his arm, up to his neck, finding pressure points and dipping his fingers into them, massaging until Steve is loose with his touch. "Bucky," Steve mumbles, feels like it's all he can say, a mantra that he can't bear to stop repeating. He's not supposed to know Bucky's name; he's not supposed to know anything about him.

Except he knows everything about him. Non-powered AU where Steve joins the NYPD when Bucky ships out. And then Bucky comes back and he's... different. It's short but it made me say Oh, Bucky and Oh, Steve a lot. I wish it were longer.

"Let's not go hopin' for too much," says Bucky, and Steve pulls Bucky into his side, and says, "Yeah, maybe not." Pining, snark and porn, which is pretty much what I want from these two.
