But he was on his feet faster than she knew, even off his game like this, so that when he caught a hold of her and called her Natalia in that tender urgent voice she wasn't ready, wasn't ready at all. She could love Bucky Barnes if she let herself. She was halfway there already. She'd never really stopped loving the Soldier. It hadn't exactly been the sort of situation where you got closure and moved on like normal people; maybe in a few more years, or if he'd never come back. The jet was spinning, and he was so warm behind her, and it hurt, everything hurt all the damn time, like a muscle she could never relax, and she didn't know how to make it stop. Achingly lovely Bucky/Natasha.

"I have to admit," Sherlock said one morning while constructing a stack of toasted avocado sandwiches for himself, "no small part of my enjoyment of this comes from the knowledge of how much it would irritate my father to find out that not only am I spending my time engaging in what he thinks of as a pointless waste of energy, but that I'm doing so while coaching an American. It provides a unique frisson of satisfaction, one not quite communicable verbally."

"There probably is a word for it in German," Joan said, lying on the ground as she worked over her left hamstring with a foam roller, eyes watering a little as the muscles slowly unlocked.

Sherlock pointed at her with the avocado-smeared knife. "An excellent point, and one I shall most likely communicate to my father during our next communication. Adding in Germans can only help my cause."

"He thinks we should be clearer about the delineation between the personal and the professional."

"Well, I can't argue with that in principle," said Joan, "but since when do we let ourselves be defined by anyone else?"

"Since always," said Sherlock. "I believe that might actually be the definition of definition."

"Well, then it's time we stopped," said Joan. "You're my friend, and my employer, and my mentor, and I am your friend and your colleague and your sounding board. We can be all of those things, as long as we understand the nature of each of them."

The original is strictly from Marie’s POV, and sometimes, it’s hard to see what, exactly, Logan is thinking. Well, Katie gives it to us straight up, in a pitch-perfect, dead-on Logan-voice. He can see the potential in Marie, see the woman she could become, if she’d only let herself, and so he waits and watches and teaches her until she finally, finally comes to realize that you can’t go through life scared of everything, especially not yourself. That living is being vulnerable, and not just because you have life-sucking skin. Funny, sad, uplifting, romantic, this story has everything.

José Cuervo, or How Will Bailey Stopped Worrying and Started Dating a Republican by aerye
Utterly brilliant fic that totally captures Will, Joe and the Sorkinese with a light hand and a hilarious take on the "wake up next to someone you can't remember bringing home" cliché. This is my favorite of the yuletide stories, I think. I adore it and want to have its babies. I can completely see both Will and Joe saying this dialogue.

Star Trek: Voyager
Shutter (Seven Years Disappeared Remix) by Rebeckah
This remix and the original it’s based on are the first, last and probably only Voyager fic I've ever read, but I really liked them. The remix has some great lines - Suddenly I saw yet another facet of this stranger. She was a rebel. A quiet rebel, uninterested in forming an army to join in her rebellion, but a rebel nonetheless. I really like how this takes the original by Tahlia and tells the story from the other POV.

West Wing
Death Becomes Her (Taxing the Undead Remix) by White Star 2 An absolutely great take on cgb's Sunnydale DC, in which CJ is the Slayer. The reactions of Bartlet's staff to the fact that vampires are real, and CJ has been Chosen to kill them, are dead on and often hilarious.

Beautiful, sad story in which Josh contemplates Donna's betrayal, and comes to a decision about their relationship.
