Angel

Dead End Detour (Wrong Turning Remix) by [archiveofourown.org profile] hereticalvision
Faith finds some peace in prison, and then she learns that Buffy's dead. Achingly lovely. She'd been so caught up in thinking about her own impending death that she hadn't really though about how B's death affected her. Faith had idolised her once, after all. Wanted to be her so bad she'd crawled right up inside her skin. Would have fucked Buffy herself given half a chance and maybe that would have been enough. But knives and boyfriends and anger all got in the way and Faith didn't think about her much these days except for maybe wishing they could've been real friends.

It wasn't Buffy she wanted to be like, not anymore.

Angel/Batman Begins

Gotham (The Just When You Think You're Out Remix) by [archiveofourown.org profile] Medie
The thing about Gotham City is the part where it's Gotham City. LA made sense; demons downtown, humans uptown, and a whole seedy underbelly that made the whole thing work. Gotham makes some hell dimensions he's seen look downright respectable.

After NFA, Gunn ends up in the Gotham City DA's office. Batman gets turned into an actual bat, despite not believing in magic, and Gunn's assistant may not be human. Just another day at the office, then. I found this hilariously entertaining.

The Belgariad

gratia gratium parit by [archiveofourown.org profile] lalaietha
This is beautiful and heartbreaking and hopeful all at once, and I love the way it adds depth and meaning that was missing in the books, and shows how Relg and Taiba got to where they ended up in a way that makes sense. Really wonderful. "I am guilty of many sins," he says. "Not all of them are that easy to wave away, even for you." The last words are unkind, and he knows it, but Taiba lets them pass.

"I think UL will forgive you," she says. It takes him a moment to recognize this note in her voice as wistfulness. "He loved you enough to tell you to stop before you did anything that couldn't be fixed, after all."

She glanced at Relg, and said, "What?" defensive again.

"I . . .had not thought of it that way," he says, a little helplessly. Taiba sighs.

"No," she says. "You wouldn't."
