Firefly/Captain America

Time Watches From the Shadow by [personal profile] shadesofbrixton
Steve has the common sense - or good grace - to look a little bashful now, like that'll do a gorram thing for Mal's opinion of him. "I'm looking for someone - I was told you were the man to come to. That this ship did things other people wouldn't."

"She maybe does," Mal monotones, tipping his head at Inara, who rolls her eyes.

Steve sighs, obviously fed up with his treatment of the "lady." Well, good. He deserves as much frustration as Mal's feeling. "A - a friend of mine is trapped in a facility." He's searching Mal's face, those baby blues suddenly real sharp. "I heard your crew had experience - "

Mal's gun is out and tipped up under Steve's chin before he can finish the sentence. "Heard from who."

To the stranger's credit, he doesn't stammer under the press of steel. "Shepherd Book," he says calmly.
Eeee! Steve and Bucky 500 years in the future! Bucky trapped by the same people who had River and Steve asks Mal's help to get him back! Mal being frustrated that everything is out of his control. I love this so much!

Leverage/The Muppets/Angel

The Great Muppet-Angel-Leverage Caper by [livejournal.com profile] mizzy2k
This story starts, as many of the greatest stories in history do, with a talking frog.

You could argue that it starts sometime before that, with a vampire that's been turned into a puppet. According to Eliot, the word again should be tagged onto the end of that sentence.

Or you could argue that it starts with that said puppet walking into a bar.

Hee! An absolutely wonderful Leverage/Muppets/Angel crossover.

Dead End Detour (Wrong Turning Remix) by [archiveofourown.org profile] hereticalvision
Faith finds some peace in prison, and then she learns that Buffy's dead. Achingly lovely. She'd been so caught up in thinking about her own impending death that she hadn't really though about how B's death affected her. Faith had idolised her once, after all. Wanted to be her so bad she'd crawled right up inside her skin. Would have fucked Buffy herself given half a chance and maybe that would have been enough. But knives and boyfriends and anger all got in the way and Faith didn't think about her much these days except for maybe wishing they could've been real friends.

It wasn't Buffy she wanted to be like, not anymore.

Angel/Batman Begins

Gotham (The Just When You Think You're Out Remix) by [archiveofourown.org profile] Medie
The thing about Gotham City is the part where it's Gotham City. LA made sense; demons downtown, humans uptown, and a whole seedy underbelly that made the whole thing work. Gotham makes some hell dimensions he's seen look downright respectable.

After NFA, Gunn ends up in the Gotham City DA's office. Batman gets turned into an actual bat, despite not believing in magic, and Gunn's assistant may not be human. Just another day at the office, then. I found this hilariously entertaining.

gratia gratium parit by [archiveofourown.org profile] lalaietha
This is beautiful and heartbreaking and hopeful all at once, and I love the way it adds depth and meaning that was missing in the books, and shows how Relg and Taiba got to where they ended up in a way that makes sense. Really wonderful. "I am guilty of many sins," he says. "Not all of them are that easy to wave away, even for you." The last words are unkind, and he knows it, but Taiba lets them pass.

"I think UL will forgive you," she says. It takes him a moment to recognize this note in her voice as wistfulness. "He loved you enough to tell you to stop before you did anything that couldn't be fixed, after all."

She glanced at Relg, and said, "What?" defensive again.

"I . . .had not thought of it that way," he says, a little helplessly. Taiba sighs.

"No," she says. "You wouldn't."

The Signs That We Missed by [livejournal.com profile] redbrickrose
This amazing story looks forward and back with all the characters, using the events of "Reprise" as a starting point, and ending point, a center.

A quote:
If he could say it started with Whistler; if he could name China, Romania, Galway, or the death bed of a Jamestown whore as the proverbial scene of the crime, then he might know the one damning action that somehow tipped the scales. There wasn't one really, because destiny doesn't do anything so prosaic as begin. It just kind of quietly exists and if you're fucked, then you're fucked all along.

Spider-man 2

Just a Face on a Train by katheryne
Peter Parker runs into one of the people he saved on the train, the day he was unmasked, and she wants to help. This story made me cry like a baby. It’s sweet and simple and oh, Peter, with hardly anyone to turn to for help, finding friends in odd places. Just lovely. Please ignore the ff.net address, the OFC, and the occasional grammar error and read it, especially if you are a fan of Peter Parker.
