He inhaled, let it out on a shuddering breath. Ronan moved in and laid his head on Adam's shoulder, hands sliding down his body to embrace him.

Adam chuckled weakly, still sick with emotion. "How are you the well-adjusted one?"

"You take that back, asshole."

He wrapped his arms around Ronan and pulled him in tight, pulled them together until the tension inside him began to ease, letting the void fill with Ronan's stubborn and relentless caring. He became aware that his head was throbbing.

Ronan waited for him, not moving until Adam released him. Adam and Ronan and figuring things out along the way.

She swallowed past the nervous lump in her throat and nodded, taking in the room itself, evaluating it. It was an office, albeit it of the Barrel variety. His private quarters were separated off, and the door was closed. It was almost cozy.

Here is what is on the shield of Achilles: the land, the sea. The sowing and the harvest. The meeting-place where the lawgivers debate. The dancing-place where the youths link arms. The city and the country, the procession and the sacrifice, the sons and the fathers, the faithful friends.

The gods give Achilles all of human life to bear on his arm. That almost-more-than-human arm. He shoulders the shield and the fate of humanity together. Afterwards people tell Achilles's story with the rest of the hero-songs, but he's not a hero, do you understand? Hephaestus knew it. In the end, he's not a hero, not a demigod, not a thing apart. He's one of us. Lovely retelling of Achilles' story.

Gansey hits the brakes a little harder than their slow approach to the stop light really requires. "I couldn't," he says, with what Ronan knows is valiant effort.

Adam shrugs. "I don't care, she's not mine or anything. You obviously want to."

"She would stab all of us if she even knew we were having this conversation." Gansey eases forward as the light goes green.

"Hey," Ronan says. "She has a knife now and I am not a part of this."

"Too late." Adam smirks. He meets Ronan's eyes in the mirror finally. "You're an accomplice now."

"To rank misogyny," Gansey says, but his lips are quirked in a small, secret smile that Ronan hasn't seen in quite some time. This is actually listed as Adam/Ronan and it's that, but the stuff with Blue and her boys is always my favorite part of anything. This is adorable on all levels.
