Ocean's Eleven

The High Life by [archiveofourown.org profile] Destina
"Maybe we need a break," Rusty said, his voice muffled by the pillow.

"I had one. Eighteen months in the federal pen," Danny answered.

"That's not a break, that's appropriate sanctions." Rusty cracked open an eye and peered at him. "When I wake up, we are getting a map. And then we're taking a drive."

Danny and Rusty are on vacation. Whatever will they do not to get bored? Oh heart.

thieves at heart by [archiveofourown.org profile] enkiduu
Danny and Rusty. Their names are always said together and Rusty knows that's how it'll always be. They're partners.

Not in the way he wants, and he feels bad for wanting more, wanting what Danny can't give. It doesn't change the way Rusty feels, but the way he feels doesn't change the way things are, either.

Apparently Rusty's not as good at reading Danny as he thought.

Devil's Cub

a thing with feathers by [archiveofourown.org profile] hazel
So Devil's Cub is my very favorite Heyer, and possibly my favorite romance of all time, and this version of it is utterly brilliant. I am completely entranced by this version of Mary and Dominic, and their continental adventures, plus the story rehabs Mary's mother and sister, as well! Absolutely amazing.

Gilmore Girls

what are you afraid of, making it better? by [archiveofourown.org profile] dollsome
"But I was happy doing it because the whole time I thought, ‘I bet this will make Lorelai smile.’ I can’t tell you all the stupid stuff I’ve done over the years and liked doing just because I knew you would smile at it. And I don’t want there to ever be a day when you don’t feel like smiling and it’s my fault you feel that way. So if I’m making you feel bad, you have to tell me, okay? Because then I’m letting you down, and that’s the one thing I never want to do.”

“Really?” she teases, starting to smile. “The one thing?”

“I’m not wild about the idea of watching Stars Hollow Elementary’s production of Godspell either,” he says dryly, “but we both know you’re going to drag me into that one.”
Emily saves the day and Luke and Lorelai talk instead of being stupid. The perfect s6 fix-it. *happy sigh*

Accusing You of Stealing What I Gave Away for Free by [archiveofourown.org profile] Laura
"You're concerned for my moral turpitude. That's very gentlemanly of you."

"Your immortal soul is all you take with you when you go," Rusty said. "I learned that in school." He hooked his ankles over Danny's legs, held him as Danny got a hand into his jeans. "You'd be very good. Except for how you'd hate it."

"That's how I feel about this," Danny said, and Rusty laughed against his skin, liked the way he could feel it rumble through both their bodies. "You love it," he said, and Danny said, "Not it. You," as sincerely as he'd ever meant anything.

TRACER BULLET IS A TERRIBLE NAME FOR A PI by [archiveofourown.org profile] Elemental
The world only ever seemed to meet him halfway on how it was supposed to be.

"Some people just don't know how a mystery is supposed to work, Hobbes." He opened the bottom drawer of his desk, and pulled out a can of soda.

It was probably only fair. Sometimes he only met the world halfway himself.

The Birds and the Bees by [archiveofourown.org profile] Lbilover
Lord Legerwood, unknotting with the ease of long practice the tangled skein of his wife's speech, said, "Do I take it you want me to discuss the niceties of love-making with Freddy?"

"Yes," replied his other half baldly.

He could think of a dozen things he would rather do than hold such a conversation with his son, among them walking barefoot over hot coals or strolling down Bond Street without trousers. But he knew that Emma, scatterbrained as she could be, was right. Discreet inquiries over the years since Freddy's majority had yielded no evidence that he ever kept a mistress or even visited one of those establishments that catered to a gentleman's needs. Freddy was undoubtedly as virginal as his bride-to-be, and perhaps a few pointers wouldn't go amiss to help get the newlyweds off to a good start.

"Very well, Emma," he said, resigned to his fate. "I will have a talk with Freddy."
And hilarity ensues. This gets the voices just right. So adorable!

"There isn't supposed to be life in the fridge, Mullins," Sarah said. "The whole point of a fridge to prevent life from growing in your--" Shannon was just looking at her with raised eyebrows. Sarah stopped, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and counted to three.

Approximately three hours after disappearing, Rusty handed back the jewels like they'd come out of a gumball machine and not a state-of-the-art titanium safe. Danny kisses like he cons, a slow, calculated build up that leads up to the take. Rusty's technique, like his talent on a job, is to be the planner, the organizer, the one who, when is said and done, has put everything together so seamlessly as to appear effortless. Whether on a job or alone it's almost instinctual how they move together, fit together. And they both play to win. And sometimes, it pays to play a little dirty. *happy sigh*

Ocean's 11
Untitled Danny/Rusty fic by [livejournal.com profile] jjtaylor
Wonderful Danny/Rusty ficlet from Linus's POV. Linus is an observer, and he sees the way Danny and Rusty behave with each other, and is turned on by it, and he thinks they want him to see, that they're turned on by that. Short, sharp and full of great lines like this: Rusty's gestures are dry and unobtrusive. It's as if the fries he's giving to Danny are really going to his own mouth.

unfitforsociety: (amethyst)
Ocean’s 11
You know you want to write some Rusty/Danny. And here's some stuff to get you started on the addiction.

Among Thieves (On a Scam) by zahra
Wonderful flashes of Rusty/Danny backstory here, real enough that I can overlook one of my grammar pet peeves, the repeated use of between he and Danny.

Confidence Men by Dorinda
Eeeee! Ocean’s 11 slash. Really, really good Ocean’s 11 slash. Sets up a believable backstory, never succumbs to melodrama, the emotions are deftly understated, with a sure hand on the dialogue and characterization. Wonderful.

Leave Emotion @ the Door by zahra
Fabulous Rusty/Danny (with some Rusty/Linus thrown in) exploring how Rusty and Danny are Rusty-and-Danny, and dealing with that whole Tess problem. And how can you not love a fic with lines like this: The fact that Danny talked about scamming during the entire act of sex was clearly his way of leaving his emotions at the door, but it was really kind of hot.

Six to Eight Months by Cherry Ice
So the problem with Danny/Rusty is always, always Tess. This story deals with Tess, and Rusty (and Tess/Rusty) in a way that makes sense for all involved, and makes Tess a bit more interesting, to boot.

Trading in Your Own Name by Gale
Linus, his intelligence, his ability to fade into the background, his keen sense of observation, and a really cool history - it's all done here and done well.
