Enola Holmes

sing the body electric by [archiveofourown.org profile] hollowmen
The problem with having an eidetic memory, Enola discovers, is that she can recall with perfect clarity the sounds Tewkesbury made in that thin, hazy half-dark. The UST is deliciously palpable as Enola tries to figure out what to do about these feelings stirred by what she witnessed. This might be my favorite thing I've read in this year's collection that wasn't my gift.

Practical Magic

Know That Not a Thing Could Come Between Us by [archiveofourown.org profile] katonahottinroof
There's always been one constant in Sally Owens' life - before, during and after everything, there's Gillian. Lovely look at the sisters over the years.

The Princess Bride

vehigadta (and you shall tell) by [archiveofourown.org profile] Roga
Assorted items from the writings and correspondences of S. Morgenstern, and how I came to find them. This is a lot of fun.

Sports Night

The Offside Rule by Laura
This is my favorite kind of Sports Night story - Casey realizes how awesome Dan is, and Dan gives great monologue on why soccer sucks. Plus there is pining and kissing and a 'your face' joke. Adorable.

Futurama

Just Desserts by Mercurie
Space ninjas! Leela being awesome! Bender being Bender! Hee!

The Princess Bride

A Duplicity of Pirates by isabeau
Adorable story in which Inigo comes back to Florin to help Westley solve a problem. I especially liked Fezzik's cameo.

Ocean's Eleven

Diamonds Are Forever by smilebackwards
Approximately three hours after disappearing, Rusty handed back the jewels like they'd come out of a gumball machine and not a state-of-the-art titanium safe. Although, when Danny thinks back on it, it isn't a particularly apt analogy. Rusty would probably have been far more reluctant to part with something that came out of a gumball machine. Fun, in character take on how Rusty and Danny met. Hee!

These Vagabond Shoes by angelgazing
Danny finds his way back to Rusty, post-O13. Lovely.

The Princess Bride

The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Westley and Buttercup by [personal profile] atrata
Absolutely heartbreaking and note-perfect. This is not the happy ending Westley was hoping for.

Pushing Daisies

We Go In Waves by [livejournal.com profile] entangled_now
The end of the world, Pushing Daisies-style. The biblical plagues hit Coeur d'Coeurs, and Ned's afraid it's his fault. Fantastic Olive voice.

Devil's Cub

The Cub's First Cub by athousandwinds
Utterly adorable story of Vidal waiting for his and Mary's first child to be born. Gets the voices just right. I am so happy someone wrote this, because this was my original assignment and I didn't get a chance to write it, and now I don't have to.

Ladyhawke

Faith by Eris
Achy and full of gorgeous imagery, and Isabeau's longing and strength. And when hawk forgets everything of silks and perfumes and of mirrors, she still knows the way to his wrist. Isabeau, too, is a compass.

Persuasion

Paper Sails by mjules
Beautifully poignant look at Captain Wentworth before he comes back into Anne's life. Lovely imagery.

The Princess Bride

There Will Be No Survivors (Except for the Survivors Behind the Curtain, But Pay No Attention to Them) by knightshade
Adorable explanation of the "no survivors" part of the Dread Pirate Roberts' reputation. Hilarious and gets the voices spot-on.

Swordspoint

At the Pommel by Kate
I really enjoyed this story of Alec and Richard's first meeting, and also their conversation post-Privilege of the Sword.

Compass and Knife by Brigdh
I liked this a lot - the sumptuousness of the descriptions, tastes and sounds and smells, and Alec's attempts to describe the ocean, and then the sharpness of the ending, Alec still Alec - and Richard still Richard - even on new shores.

Alice in Wonderland
Ravens and Writing Desks by Meltha
Alice visits Wonderland one last time in this dark and creepy story full of evocative nightmare imagery.

Anne of Green Gables
Second-Best Roses by [livejournal.com profile] kannaophelia
Oh, this is so poignant and sweet and full of longing, and any girl who's ever had a best friend whose best friend was someone else will understand it, and well, there's even more than that, to it, as well. Stella watches Anne, and wishes...

The Princess Bride
Buttercup's Baby by [livejournal.com profile] raindroproses
This story manages to capture the breezy tone of the book and movie while nodding toward the darker undercurrents they gloss over. It's a clever, fun read, but oh, poor Inigo.

Romeo & Juliet
Waste Our Lights in Vain by [livejournal.com profile] nifra_idril
There is a door inside Mercutio, in the shape of Romeo. It blows with the wind; open and shut, open and shut. Lovely, haunting fic with some evocative language and imagery. I've always thought Romeo was a tool, and this fic does not dispel that. *g*

The Secret Garden
Letters Home by [livejournal.com profile] penknife
Colin and Dickon during the war, taking comfort in each other as Colin thinks about the future and what it may mean when the get back home. Wistful and true to the book.
