Narnia
Chronicles of Narnia
I know, I know, it feels slightly blasphemous, but if there's LotR fic, why not Narnia? There's so much to explore.
And The Queen In Exile by Linda Marie is painfully poignant and believable. Poor Lucy, having to grow up 'normal' (i.e., unnoticed and unloved, and so misunderstood) after being a Queen, and being banned from the world she loves so much.
