Fantastic story of a case Dean is working his senior year of high school, told from an outsider pov with a slow, suspenseful buildup to what's really happening. A really gripping read with a well-done original character narrator.

Normal isn't as easy as Sam thinks. I love Sam-hunts-at-Stanford stories, and this is a good one. I especially like the real, lived-in nature of his relationship with Jess, and the push-pull of his relationship with Dean always in the background. Lovely.

Five in the After by [livejournal.com profile] montisello
John tries to decide if it was all worth it. His sorrow is palpable. Heartbreaking and yet hopeful.

Hospital Corners by [livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic
Lovely, understated, heartbreaking coda to Mystery Spot. Dean keeps switching out Sam's toothbrush. Sam doesn't respond well.

They can't have anything but the life, if they want to live it. It wasn't meant to last - because hunters can't have anything. Sharp, heartbreaking Sam/Jo set during Mystery Spot.

Jo runs into Kat (from Asylum) on a hunt. Nice look at Jo's development, and also at Kat's willingness to do what needs doing, now that she knows how.

One Hundred Tuesdays (and Nary a Wednesday in Sight) by [livejournal.com profile] pyrebi
Hilarious and heartbreaking interpolation of some of the Tuesdays we didn't see, with a wonderfully wry yet horrified Sam voice.

I generally don't like stories where they settle down and stop hunting, but I like this one, where Dean's got an injury that keeps them out of the game, and they live a quiet life down in Mexico. (wincest)

The Pen Is Mouthier Than The Sword by [livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic
Dean gets hit by a curse. The result is adorable and sweet and funny.

Reverse Polarity! by [livejournal.com profile] sazzlette
A few weeks before he turns thirty, Dean thinks he's getting younger. Adorable and funny, as Sam has to deal with wee!Dean.

This school only taught one subject: how to forget. Heartbreaking and creepy AU with images that linger.

Unthinkable by Glass Shoe
I don't know if I believe Sam would actually do this (the author admits it's a hard sell), but if you go with it, it's a fantastic look at Sam's stubbornness and Dean's, and how they collide. post-BUaBS, what Sam will do to feel in control of himself again.

Upon a Red Stain by [livejournal.com profile] bellatemple
These are the stories that the Winchesters never told. Lovely, heartbreaking fairy-tale AU, inspired by The Crane Wife.

Dean! IS A PIXIE! Utterly adorable.
