Rec-a-licious mini-update! (Can 29 recs be a mini-update?)
I feel like I should have way more stories, but 29 is a good number. To go with my age, you know. *snerk*
Some older stories, some new, some borrowed from other recs sites, some blue. *sniff*
Yes, OotP spoilers, not cut. Bail now or deal with it. Or live in Denial, as I am.
Some stories are LJ only, whether because the authors don't list a site where they're archived, or their LJ *is* their archive, or they're so new they haven't been put up anywhere yet. Non-LJ linkage is always appreciated, if someone wants to provide it...

Harry Potter
Again, I've tried to avoid putting major spoilers in the recs, but come *on*. Stories that contain OotP spoilers are marked with ***
Apogee by llamajoy
I don’t know why this wasn’t on the list earlier, but I somehow forgot(!) it in the transfer from my "rec these" file to the actual recs page. It's a beautiful story of hide and seek wherein Remus finally lets himself be found, though Sirius is technically the one hiding. Sweet boys in love. Go read. Now.
***Beyond the Veil by Helene
Sirius has to find his way back, with help from Harry, Remus and... Snape. Apparently there’s going to be an epilogue that’s not posted yet, but I don’t think it needs it. This is a beautifully plausible explanation for the Veil, its purpose and what it might be like for Sirius on the other side of it, not of the living nor of the dead.
***Breaking Control by Sam Vimes
Remus is a past master at hiding his feelings, but eventually even he has to break. *sniff* He’s drunk and Tonks is there and it really, really hurts.
Concerning Flying Lessons, Snuffboxes, And One Hundred Galleons by Mary Borsellino
Ah, MWPP. Seventh year. James is trying to convince Lily to go out with him. Sirius and Remus are circling each other warily. Much fun; sweet and romantic.
Drowsy Dialogues by Morgan D.
Oh so sweet story of Harry and the Lump Under the Blankets. Just a nice slice of family/homeyness. Completely jossed by OotP, but I wish it weren’t. Harry deserves this. So does Sirius.
***Faded Laughter Against Her Ear by Mary Borsellino (

Ginny finds a portrait of 15-year-old Sirius Black in the attic at Grimmauld Place. Beautiful and sad and just... Sirius.
The Fairytale Way by zahra
Sirius Black knows how the story is *supposed* to go – he knows he’s Prince Charming, and Prince Charming’s not supposed to want a Prince Charming of his own. But he does. And he decides to rewrite the story in his own inimitable style. Lovely. Zahra has a nice light touch with the puppies.
How to Say Goodbye by Fandom Dramaturg
Sirius and Remus part for the summer on Platform 9 ¾. Beautifully *real* story of two boys and one’s realization of his feelings for the other. This story has a great feel for the characters, their interactions are wonderfully in character and they feel like real boys who’ve known each other a long time.

A pointed, poignant, post-OotP Petunia fic, adding onto the depth and shading she finally got in OotP. (how do you like my alliteration? *g*)
***Legacy by Moony
Gorgeous, sad, and just -- *sniff* Two moments in time in the library at Hogwarts. Sirius Black makes his mark.
Levity by Rageprufrock
Remus is drunk, sex is bad and Sirius doesn’t know who he is anymore. Sharp, insightful, hilarious and touching in turn, Pru nails the characters. And I’m not saying that just ‘cause I betaed.
Misplaced by Twinkledru J.
You know, I keep reccing this to people when they ask me why I don’t like Snape and what kind of Snapefic I do like, and how I would find him palatable in a relationship with one of the students. And then I realized I’d never actually formally *recommended* the thing. So, forthwith, read this fic. Ginny’s ambitious and Snape knows it’s wrong, but that doesn’t stop them. In fact, they wouldn’t be doing it if it weren’t wrong. Don’t mind the switching POV. It’s easy enough to figure it all out.
***From Portrait to Portrait by ava_ked
Phineas Nigellus’s thoughts as he travels from portrait to portrait in search of the last of the Blacks after Dumbledore gives him the news. *sniff*
Remembrances of Times Past by Crow
During PoA, McGonagall and Ginny have a talk. It seems Ginny wasn’t the first Gryffindor girl Tom Riddle charmed. Lovely, quiet, in character and definitely something I’d have loved to have seen in the books.
***Silent Scream, Now Her Part Is Over, and Paint It Black. by Malisita
A little trilogy of Molly/Sirius ficlets (seriously). Um, I mean, not Molly/Sirius, per se, but yeah. It works. They come to a truce, of sorts. So sad.
Sleep Lines by Rachel
Sweet, sweet Sirius/Remus first kiss.
(Does contrelamontre have an archive? Anyone know?)
Strictly Confidential by Moony
Sirius figures out it’s not James he’s in love with. He can’t quite figure out how to tell Remus, though, so he writes him a note. Adorably cute.
The Way He Kisses Me by Mosylu
“He kisses like he’s laughing.” This story is short and fluffy and the reason that I will probably never give up on Ron/Hermione. Such an exquisite description of what kissing Ron Weasley must be like. Sweeter than a maple in full sap, however, so beware if you're a sourpuss.
