Abbott Elementary

The Marriage Plot by [archiveofourown.org profile] SuburbanSun
When the teachers of Abbott start a betting pool around when Gregory and Janine will get engaged, can the two of them turn the tables? This is super cute and feels like it could be part of an episode!

Avatar: the Last Airbender

Some Truths by [archiveofourown.org profile] SpaceWall
In which Katara meets a strange boy in the Northern Water Tribe, is successful in both waterbending and emotional vulnerability, and saves the day with the power of sheer stubbornness. Meanwhile, Zuko makes a friend. His second one, if you count Yue. AU where Zuko spent most of his exile with the Northern Water Tribe, so he's already there when the Gaang shows up. I enjoyed this story!

"Meg, I miss you terribly," he says into the phone receiver.

"Charles Wallace," she replies, "of course I miss you too, but shouldn't you be in class?"
This is a fantastic look at Charles Wallace as he puzzles his way through a miserable middle school day over and over again. Like a missing piece of canon! <333

JOSHUA LIVES! AU where Adam has a crush on Joshua (as well he should) instead of Kali and it changes everything. <333

The Belgariad/Malloreon

Queen of Wolves by [archiveofourown.org profile] inlovewithnight
At the Battle of Vo Mimbre, Polgara bows her head to Kal Torak and becomes his bride.

This changes everything, and nothing, as the game between the Necessities goes on.
Wow. Just. Wow. This is a spectacular AU that absolutely nail's Polgara's voice and characterization. Brilliant.

The Chronicles of Prydain

Eilonwy Wanderer by [archiveofourown.org profile] Edonohana
Taran Wanderer was always my favorite of the Prydain books, but I was always sad Eilonwy didn't get her own journey of self-discovery. This story is that journey and it's lovely. *happy sigh*

Peeta only comes at dawn, just at the break when the sheen of the sky is barely lifted from darkness.

Katniss is awake, of course, up in her room. She sleeps with her door open nowadays.

(She doesn't sleep at all.)

She listens to his movements downstairs, the step of his bad leg twice as hard against the wood. She listens without saying a word.
Lovely post-Mockingjay story focusing on Katniss's slow healing process.

On Tops of Mountains by [archiveofourown.org profile] Maidenjedi
Jo considered her captor. "If I wrote this scene, the heroine would be forced to kiss the villian in order to escape."

Laurie shrugged. "If you wrote this scene, the heroine would kiss the villian only to discover he was, in the end, her hero."

"Not likely, if I were true to the tale playing out here."

Laurie feigned hurt. "You wouldn't know your hero if he was right in front of you, milady?"

She shook her head again, another pin flying loose. "I have no hero, for I am in need of none."

Laurie had to kiss her then. Her muffled surprise faded, and her hands went slack in his.

He broke the kiss first, and Jo's eyes remained closed. "Um...Teddy....we...."

Her face was soft, and he was surprised at himself, at her. It hadn't come of anything, he thought firmly, determined not to fall into romanticizing something Jo would likely rather forget. Teddy, we must not, was surely what came next.
Oh, this is what I've always wanted for Jo and Laurie. Really lovely story of their romance. *sniffle*

A Good Many Sparrows by [archiveofourown.org profile] sundancekid
For as long as Poly could remember, Uncle Charles Wallace has been a mystery. He appeared occasionally, staying for a few weeks, and then disappearing again, maybe for years. Her parents wouldn't tell her where he went when he was gone, or when he'd be back, or where he lived, or what he did for a living. He wouldn't tell her any of those things either; he never told her how long he'd visit, he never promised he'd see her soon. This is a beautiful story I never realized I needed. Charles Wallace visits his family after Joshua dies, and Poly (and I) take solace in his presence. Oh my heart.

The Morning Wind Upon the Sea by [archiveofourown.org profile] elle_dritch
'Was I always that something else?' Irian says with an urgency she did not anticipate within herself. 'Could it have ended differently? Do things ever change?'

Ged blinks. 'Some things,' he says slowly, 'are unchanging, I thought: the sea, the sun, the wind that moves the grass around us. And yet, the sea moved and Soléa was lost, the dry land is green once more, and the doors of Roke are open. And that, I am told, was your doing. Yes, Irian, I think things change, but we must husband that change along. Little use if we plant the seed and fail to tend to it.'

'And must I be the seed and the farmer too then?'

'Orm Irian, I am an old man on a farm that yields nothing but hard work and rebellious goats. It is not for me to tell you what you should do: a Dragon Lord is one whom dragons will speak with, not someone who can command dragons, eh? A pretty fix we'd be in if some fool tried to leash dragons.'
Absolutely gorgeous story of Tehanu and Orm Irian coming back to Gont after some time on the other wind.

The Middleman

The Bloodsucking Brownie Extermination by lessthanpie
"So, what's the big emergency?" / "Never mind that now, Dubbie. We have bigger fish to fry. Or should I say smaller fish? Of course, they're not actually fish at all. The Mirrorball Malefaction Misapprehension by gwyneth rhys
"This just frosts my flakes," he said. "Misappropriation of materials, mysterious men from Walla Walla, and cloak-wearing aliens do not provide a logical progression." / "Logic?" Wendy asked. "Hate to ask you this, Mr. Spock, but when has logic ever had anything to do with this job?" / "This is as serious as a sockful of scorpions, Dubbie, and if it's got something to do with the calendar change, we're covered in bites." Wendy and the Middleman tackle a case with a mysterious mirrorball on New Year's Eve. Reads just like an episode. *hearts*

Nine Moments in the Life of an Artist by Amy
Delicate fic where Polyhymnia O'Keefe meets Emily Gregory (the blind pianist of The Young Unicorns) and they hit it off. Lucifer fic! Lucifer/Michael, to be exact, before the world began, and they were the only two, equal, the force and means by which god created the universe. And they loved. And Nifra tells their story here. Beautiful. (and you should all follow her example and write more Lucifer fic.)

SportsNight

Respice Finem by scrunchy
Absolutely awe-inspiring. Subtitled "Look to the end: 12 Latin Phrases That Aren't Quo Vadimus aka, Some Ways It Didn't End," Scrunchy dreams up twelve different ways SportsNight could have ended, but didn't, each one of them as true as the actual ending (truer in a couple cases, imo). All the main players are here, in various groups and combinations - some of these are sad ((Spero Melior made me sniffle) some are happy (Ecce Homo made me squee like a little fangirl), some are just *true* (Disjecta Membra feels *right*), and one is absolutely gut-wrenching (Pro Memoria gave me chills).

Go. Read. And praise Scrunchy with great praise, for her tang is top notch.
