Gallop about doing good by [archiveofourown.org profile] gloss
"Cats?" Peter B. asks. "No, there's nothing in my universe about cats and Spider-Man. Looks like you're special once again, Miles. Invisibility camo, venom shock, now kitty-whispering? Congrats!"

Spider-Man helps everyone. Brooklyn's cats seem determined to take advantage of that fact.
Adorable!

What was he going to say, that he was holding on to some idea of manhood that didn't even stem from his own people? He was down for revolution, not the petty shit of rebellion: he liked most of his father's traditions just fine. He just wasn't pinning a corsage on his chest, marking him out as T'Challa’s new boytoy. AU where Erik comes to Wakanda as T'Challa's betrothed. Great character voices.

carried to space on a dolphin balloon by [archiveofourown.org profile] napricot
THE MOON LANDING IS REAL NOW: STEVE ROGERS IN SPACE, PROTECTING PLANET EARTH! And maybe finding love with a buxom space babe??

"Jesus Christ," Sam mutters. "This Steve on the moon conspiracy is getting out of control."

Except it turns out that it might not just be baseless conspiracy theory fodder for the tabloids. Not when Natasha has returned, alive and well, and certain that Steve, their Steve, will come back home too, if he hasn't become totally lost in the vastness of spacetime.
Ha! I enjoyed this a lot.

"When did you even get to meet my dad?" Shangqi demands. "You're in supervillain prison, surely they don’t let you guys mingle."

"Mahjong night," says Erik, deadpan.

Other people look for retirement homes for their parents. Shangqi has to check out prisons. While sorting out his father's incarceration in Wakanda, he unexpectedly reconnects with his old college roommate, the villain formerly known as Killmonger."

Urban Legend by [archiveofourown.org profile] gwyneth
"People are saying I’m fake?" Could they really not compare his recent photos to the newsreels and article photos and his films from the war? "They’re saying I was never found and I’m just…some guy wearing a Cap uniform?" Steve discovers modern day conspiracy theories about Captain America. Oh Steve.

The Princess and the Folly by [archiveofourown.org profile] Beatrice_Otter
Princess Shuri wants to see if there are any differences between Wakandan magic and Newtonian. The Folly is happy to oblige her. The crossover I didn't even know I needed! This is wonderful!

The Gotham Job by [archiveofourown.org profile] Hinn_Raven
Generally, thieves of their caliber avoid Gotham. There are always exceptions that prove the rule, however.

(Or: five times that a member of Leverage met a member of the Batfamily, and one time that they teamed up.)
Ah, the best kind of crossover, where everyone gets to be competent and amazing. I would happily read a million more words of this. <333

Bucky twists in his arms and looks up. He's beautiful, illuminated only by the streetlights coming through the window. "You...really don't give a fuck,” Bucky says, his voice all wonder.

"Who doesn't have a past?” Steve tells him.

Steve will remember this, too: the moment when the light finds Bucky's eyes.

This time, Steve kisses Bucky goodnight before they go to sleep — just a small kiss, sweet and tender, passing like a prelude, like a promise.
This is a really beautifully written (comics) AU, and also NAMOR is GREAT. #imperius rex

Erik gets a do-over. Erik gets a lot of do-overs. Or: Erik Killmonger's own personal version of Groundhog Day, only with a lot more murder, dying, trips to the ancestral plane, awkward family conversations, and divine intervention. This is unutterably brilliant. Truly a spectacular read. highly highly recommended.

Slow and Splendored by [archiveofourown.org profile] eyres
In the chaotic years after Steve Rogers arrives back in 2023 as an old man, he helps rebuild the world, falls in love with his best friend, adopts a stray cat, and saves the entire timeline. Not necessarily in that order. Long, exquisitely melancholy look at Steve and Bucky - and the world - after he returns from the past.

"Er," Falsworth says.

"Jesus fucking fuck," Dugan says, better encapsulating the group's reaction at large.

"This is the best mission we've ever had," Bucky says, as the one and only outlier. He has never sounded so delighted to be surrounded.

"I really don't . . . think . . . um," Steve trails off uselessly, just staring at him. And the . . . and the children. The very small and annoyed-looking children who are clustered up like ducklings around Bucky's everywhere, more or less
. The Howling Commandos rescue some tiny Steve clones from Hydra. Bucky is thrilled, even if no one else is. Hilarious and sweet.

Steve Rogers Is (Not) A Good Influence by [archiveofourown.org profile] noxlunate
"Steve Rogers has never been a good influence on anyone. Ever." Bucky tells Peter with the utmost seriousness and Peter is darting a look at the door like maybe he can survive jumping out of the car going 70 on the 101. Steve feels for Peter, he does.

"He uh, he tells me to eat vegetables?" Peter tries and Steve flashes him a smile at the defense of Steve's influencing abilities.

"Jesus christ." Bucky says again, emphatically.

Steve stares at him a little like he hung the moon.

Best Revenge Is Your Paper by [archiveofourown.org profile] laiqualaurelote
"When did you know? That you would do these things for me?"

Frank considers this for a while. "Can't be sure exactly. After the Blacksmith, but before the river. But I knew because it began to hurt whenever I saw you. It's like Bob Dylan said, you know - 'Everything about you is bringing me misery'. That's how you know."

"Is that what I do?" Karen asks lightly. "Bring you misery?"

"Sure," says Frank. "Like the way you're looking at me now. It's all kinds of hurt inside."

The hard clench in her chest every time she catches his eye; the times he wakes up screaming at 3am. All their shared past; worse, the pasts they do not share. To love someone, she is coming to learn, is to constantly be reminded of all the ways you could lose them. "Sounds awful," she says, fingers brushing over his knuckles.

"It is what it is." He tucks a stray strand of her hair behind her ear, then kisses her on the forehead. "But that's how you know you're still alive."
Really great look at Karen and how she puts her life together and how Frank (and Foggy and Matt) fits into it. (also, as an aside, I really want that Punisher/John Wick dogwalkers crossover AU now.)

Peter is unmasked on live television, and everyone goes berserk—you've already heard this one but here's the twist—he's wide-eyed, staring into the camera, frightened, but not because of his own safety. The first thing that comes out of his mouth is, "Someone please, please protect my Aunt May." And the entirety of New York cries out simultaneously. Heroes and neighbours and fellow students rain down on the Parker house, ready to defend her. this could use another editing pass, but I sobbed my face off reading it, because the people of NYC defending Peter Parker (and here, Aunt May) is one of my very favorite tropes and this delivers in spades.

"Chosen to live when all the rest of them died. I didn't want that. I should have fallen on Helheim with my sisters. The wings are supposed to mean glory, but all they brought me was life. And I didn't want it."

"Maybe the glory is yet to come," Thor said.

She hated him as much as she loved him, that he could say things like that and seem as though he meant them, that he could look at her all calm and one-eyed and still not remind her of his father. He demanded things from her just by existing. And she had no answer for his hopefulness.

"As I recall, patience isn't one of your strong suits," said Bucky fondly. "But yeah. Maybe."

"Can we—can we stick together from now on, Buck? I mean—I know I have to leave Wakanda next week, I know you have to stay and we're still fugitives, but—it hasn't worked out so great, us being apart. So can we…" can we be steveandbucky again, he wanted to say, but found that his courage didn't extend so far, because what if Bucky said no—

Bucky didn't say no. Bucky smiled, wide and deep enough that it reached his eyes, but Christ, still so sad.

"Hasn't always been up to us, has it?" he said, terribly gentle. "I want that though. To, you know—"
